Pushing the (Building) Envelope Since 1969

Kovach’s History

In the spring of 1969, Stephen E. Kovach III founded Kovach Properties in Scottsdale, Arizona. Prior to relocating to Arizona, Mr. Kovach had spent 15 years with E.G. Smith Organization of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of the nation’s leading industrial metal siding and roofing manufacturer/contractors during the 1950s and 1960s.

Once established in Scottsdale, Kovach started marketing metal roof and wall systems in the western region of the United States. Shortly thereafter, Stephen E. Kovach IV joined the company as an installation foreman and saw the company grow steadily over the years.  He would go on to succeed his father as president of Kovach and is now the company’s Principal.  For the last two decades, Steve IV has been preparing the next generation of leadership.

Stephen E. Kovach V is now the company’s President & CEO.  Over the last 20 years, he has gained experience in every department of the company, and is proud to carry on the Kovach legacy.  He is leading the way to expanded capabilities and an ever-increasing footprint within the industry.

Tremendous growth has occurred in the last 6 years.  In 2011, one of the nation’s largest glazing contractors, Trainor Glass Company, announced the closure of its Arizona operations.  Kovach took this unique opportunity to add glazing to their exterior cladding operation and secure Trainor’s entire Southwest operations.  Within 2 years, Kovach appeared on Glass Magazine’s “Top 50 Glaziers List,” at number 16.  The rapid growth has continued and Kovach is now the 9th largest glazier in the nation.

Offering a complete enclosure solution has been key to company growth.  Through the expansion, Kovach Building Enclosures is now among the most sophisticated exterior enclosure companies in the nation.  Most importantly, the growth that has occurred over the last 40 plus years is the direct result of maintaining an expert staff that has grown to over 300 of the best and most experienced personnel the industry has to offer.  Many staff members have met 10 to 20 years of service and Kovach prides itself on taking care of its employees.

Kovach believes its best days are yet to come.  They will continue to honor the family tradition of innovative solutions, quality products and long term relationships that has served them well for 48 years and counting.
